CMM Programmer

The CMM Programmer reviews blueprints and specifications to establish correct inspection criteria following best practices. Develops, maintains, and generates CMM programs used to inspect and verify production materials and components. Being a CMM Programmer knowledge of ANSI/ASME, ISO, and GD&T. Proficient with PC-DMIS. In addition, CMM Programmer is familiar with Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques. May require a bachelor’s degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Being a CMM Programmer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Working as a CMM Programmer typically requires 2 -4 years of related experience.

Our company is looking for a CMM Programmer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and improvement of existing CMM Programs;
  • Read and understand Engineering drawings, Customer Blueprints and CAD Models;
  • Use Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing techniques to define and communicate engineering tolerances;
  • Program CMM Inspection equipment both Online and Offline using PC-DMIS software;
  • Perform standard measurements using Vernier height gauge;
  • Analyse and report dimensional, statistical, capability and measurement system data using QStat software to the Quality and Production team;
  • Maintain internal CMM related documentation of quality elements and ensure corrective actions are implemented;
  • Liaise with Quality Engineers on key quality problems, supporting 8D activities;
  • Conduct appropriate training for CMM inspectors.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience of first principle measurement activities;
  • Proven experience of CMM programming (Ziess is essential and Mitutoyo is desirable);
  • Proven experience of Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) activities;
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience, preferably within an automotive environment, is essential, covering APQP and Quality Assurance (QA) activities;
  • Understanding and experience of APQP, FMEA’s, PPAP, SPC;
  • Interpretation of geometric tolerancing and 2D drawings;
  • A Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is essential.
