Our company is looking for a Design Technology Technician to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking of safety checks and routine maintenance of workshop equipment and systems;
  • To maintain well organised teaching and materials preparation rooms;
  • Cleaning and storage of all equipment and stock, keeping workshops and classrooms tidy;
  • Observing strict Health and Safety guidelines and keeping knowledge of this up-to-date;
  • To maintain and clean standard fixtures and fittings and prep areas on a daily basis;
  • To support the staff and pupils in the preparation and delivery of the KS3 – KS5 curriculum for Design Technology;
  • Be willing to learn new techniques and deliver as necessary;
  • To prepare and store materials in order to ensure classes are well equipped;
  • To support pupils in the classroom environment to assist in the learning process where appropriate;
  • To assist classroom teachers as directed to produce creative displays for the department that can be used to enhance classroom practice;
  • To work with the Subject Leader to organise Departmental Safety Audits;
  • To ensure that the learning environment (classrooms and display boards) are up to date;
  • Ensuring the efficient preparation and organisation of lesson materials as required for D&T/Art;
  • Ensuring staff are resourced across D&T/Art as required;
  • Provide support to teaching staff and students during lessons.

Requirements:

  • Good general education to GCSE level in English and Maths;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Experience of working with young people in a learning environment;
  • Passionate about technology;
  • Working knowledge of design and technology techniques;
  • Experience of working within technology, design and construction environment;
  • Good ICT skills;
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Experience of technology such as cameras, IPads and image manipulation programmes;
  • Experience of using a kiln is desirable but not essential;
  • Experience of using CAD CAM such as 2D design and laser cutter;
  • Specific experience and skills within a building trade is desirable but not essential;
  • You must be willing to attend a registration interview;
  • Your CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and all employment breaks must be explained;
  • You must have legal right to work in the UK.
