Principal Civil/Structural Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Principal Civil/Structural Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Appreciation of contract administration and project management;
- ensuring agreed deliverables are completed and issued on time;
- Supporting Directors’ in financial control of projects, supporting audits e.g. RISQS/ISO, resource management and business development;
- Preparation of design estimates for project budgets and fee proposals;
- Work within an established team of Engineers and CAD Technicians in accordance with the;
- Client liaison on technical matters;
- Communicate with other design teams to provide technical input and justification;
- Responsible for quality of our outputs;
- Mentoring and supervising graduates/junior members of staff where needed;
- Be able to motivate, supervise and lead a team of all grades, identifying deliverables, target dates and reporting progress to the Lead Engineer;
- Preparation of sketches and drawings both by hand and use of Autodesk AutoCad and/or Inventor;
- assessments and engineering method statements;
- Chair and facilitate technical and non-technical meetings including progress meetings and design reviews to present and justify technical decisions;
- Reporting and specification writing, calculations, AutoCAD and/or Microstation and developing designs from first principles;
- requirements of our Company Management Systems (ISO9001, ISO45001 and ISO14001).
Requirements:
- Excellent technical knowledge in civil and structural design engineering;
- Chartered MICE or MIStructE or above;
- Ability to write reports;
- Ability to carry out investigations and inspections;
- Ability to face clients and understand their requirements;
- Previous experience working in a design consultancy;
- Experience of working in the BIM environment (REVIT) will be beneficial; however not essential;
- Basic knowledge of QUENSH;
- Ability to perform structural analysis & design;
- Experienced user of CAD/AutoCAD.
