Principal Hardware Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Principal Hardware Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Coaching more junior team members and making sure there’s a robust engineering solution for the team’s work packages;
- Liaising and working closely with Systems, Mechanical and Software Engineers to solve real integration problems on complex designs;
- Will I have a specific role or can I move around?
Requirements:
- Understanding of motor control techniques;
- Analysis skills: FMEA, FTA, tolerance analysis, thermal analysis, etc;
- Significant experience in an electronics engineering;
- Common microcontroller architectures, (Infineon Aurix or XMC family);
- Development to relevant standards such as REG10, REG100, ISO16750, CISPR 25, EN61800;
- Creating, maintaining and applying strong processes to assure quality of hardware design and development;
- Practical knowledge of automotive and similar technologies, including motor inverters, automotive electronics and topologies;
- Qualified to degree level (2:1 min) in an appropriate engineering discipline such as Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or similar;
- Experience working with automotive OEMs or tier 1 automotive suppliers;
- Mass production (>50k units per annum);
- Experience with CASE tools (Mentor Graphics (DX Designer, Expedition), SPICE, COMSOL, etc);
- EMC;
- PCB layout and design.
