Principal Structural Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise with and lead other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the Clients objectives;
- Respond to design queries during construction phase and attend site meetings;
- Undertake analysis and design using a range of software packages including Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS and Masterseries;
- Assisting the Advisory Group in proposal writing, marketing and business development for structural work as required;
- Carry out manual and computer analysis;
- Commercial and technical management of projects within the office, ensuring that projects show a profitable result;
- As the team develops you will mentor junior engineers, graduates and technicians;
- Prepare high quality technical reports including structural surveys;
- Managing your own commercial projects;
- Structural engineering assessment and inspection of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry and timber;
- Working on drawings and calculations for clients;
- Technical lead on projects large and small;
- Co-ordinate the work of project engineers, graduates and technicians;
- Ensure that quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports etc.) is maintained;
- Take an active role in the development of the Structures Division with a view to expanding our client base.
Requirements:
- Sector knowledge in retail and data centres;
- Build and maintain Client relations;
- Ability to confidently manage clients expectations;
- Ability to represent business at Senior level;
- Significant experience of managing projects and conceptual design;
- Credible and professional Chartered Structural Engineer (MICE or MIStructE) with significant experience and knowledge of buildings design;
- Experience of managing projects and conceptual design;
- Team leadership skills;
- Able to speak fluent German would be advantageous but not essential;
- Experience in the following areas preferred: – Industrial Buildings – Food and Beverage;
- BEng / MEng in Civil/Structural Engineering;
- A respected professional;
- Technical capabilities to include British Standards & Eurocodes;
- Technical capabilities to include TEDDS, British Standards & Euro-codes;
- Valid Driving Licence.
