Our company is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration with the other Engineering functions to ensure smooth engineering transition within projects;
  • Perform design reviews/checking of drawings to ensure quality standards are met;
  • Liaise with the architect and other team members in the development of the building form to align with design principles;
  • Working closely under the guidance of Director of Engineering;
  • Leading the development of sustainable energy strategies for buildings, including communicating with relevant authorities to agree plans;
  • Supervise Junior Design Engineers;
  • Undertaking site surveys/inspections;
  • Production of technical specifications, designs, reports & contract documentation,
  • Preparing tender documentation;
  • The proactive liaison with other services and across other disciplines within the Building Design Team and wider Design and Construction Service;
  • Produce detail drawings to BS 8888 and manage drawing changes;
  • Independent management of projects from initial brief to completion;
  • Deliver a wide range of projects including; residential, mixed-use, commercial, industrial and educational;
  • Lead discussions related specifically to Mechanical Building Services;
  • Design custom orders to agreed deadlines and manage interface with customer.

Requirements:

  • Degree or HNC in building services/ mechanical engineering;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time;
  • Knowledge of job costing;
  • Good understanding of HVAC, Public Health Services and BMS;
  • At least eight years’ experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer (Building Services);
  • Chartership would be beneficial;
  • Strong Building Services Engineering background;
  • Ability to interpret customers specifications & evaluate customer products & designs;
  • Keen to continue your professional development keeping up to-date with developments in engineering,
  • At least 5 to 10 years significant experience in the mechanical design of automated systems;
  • Extensive experience of mechanical building design across a range of project scales and building types;
  • Appreciation of other disciplines;
  • An ability to contribute to multiple concurrent jobs;
  • Experience of leading teams on multi-disciplinary projects;
  • Good IT skills and competent with MS Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
