Assistant merchandiser Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Assistant merchandiser to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and chase supplier orders;
- Update weekly stock and sales information in order to plan future action;
- Work closely with finished product suppliers, assisting in planning ranges, forecasting sales and raising orders;
- Analysing stock levels;
- To deputize in their absence;
- Highlighting delivery discrepancies, proposing necessary actions to take;
- Liaising with Assistant Buyer and Buying Team to gain information about key trends, shapes, colour, looks etc;
- Trade the range through multi-channel;
- Produce availability reports for product/brochure launches;
- Managing day to day problems/issues that arise in the absence of the Merchandiser;
- Have weekly intake meetings with Marketing to update on product availability;
- Liaise with Distribution Centre/Suppliers and Imports to ensure stock is available on time;
- Setting up accurate delivery schedules;
- Analysing and collating data to provide support to the team in decision making;
- Trading the Department daily to highlight potential repeat opportunities and managing under-performance.
Requirements:
- Proficient MS Office packages, including secure Excel experience;
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn;
- Comfortable being data-led and analytical;
- Analytical and commercial mindset;
- Retail experience preferable;
- Flexibility to adapt your approaches to different changing situations;
- 1-2 years experience in the assistant merchandiser role;
- Able to communicate confidently at all levels;
- Currently working as an established Merchandising Assistant in a retail head office is essential;
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritise to meet key deadlines;
- Analytical, able to solve problems under pressure in a fast-paced, but fun environment;
- Excellent communication and analytical skills;
- Excellent Excel skills;
- Online fashion experience would be advantageous;
- Adaptable to change in a dynamic business.
