Responsibilities:
- Ensuring all parts, materials and services are bought for a competitive price;
- Purchase Order Placing as required;
- Undertake consumable ordering for production ensuring you introduce vendor managed / computerised systems;
- Managing a diverse portfolio of products and suppliers, supporting sales ambitions;
- Range/Product development;
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure any delays affecting Production are communicated and reacted to promptly;
- Collaborative working with other internal functions;
- Manage Kanban & Consignment stock systems including stock levels, introduction & deletion of new parts;
- Manage operational supplier performance – drive achievement of OTIF via vender reports and scorecards;
- Daily sourcing of various items such MRO, PPE, Motor’s, Engineering equipmentand more;
- Assisting with purchasing materials and equipment;
- Develop the procurement processes and supplier relationships across all areas of the business;
- Ensuring on time in full delivery of all materials and/or services;
- Research alternative suppliers on both a UK and global scale;
- Manage a large raw material spend with a complex supply chain.
Requirements:
- An understanding of lean techniques and global sourcing;
- Excellent computer skills;
- An ability to effectively communicate with team members at all levels including senior management is essential;
- Experience in managing materials in an engineering and manufacturing environment;
- Previous purchasing experience is ESSENTIAL;
- Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or similar qualification or studying towards CIPS qualification would be beneficial;
- Familiar with an ERP software system is essential;
- Work as part of a cross functional team and on your own initiative;
- An awareness of Health and Safety law and best practices;
- Ability to work under own initiative as well as within a team to meet targets and deadlines;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in procurement;
- Able to work under pressure;
- Must exhibit good interpersonal skills to get along with co-workers and outside vendors;
- Knowledge of supplier performance management practices, including supplier scorecards and performance metrics;
- Knowledge of supplier and component qualification processes.
