Indirect Tax Manager Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Indirect Tax Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the relationship with HMRC on indirect tax matters;
- Assisting the Financial Controller with ad hoc indirect tax matters;
- Implementing the final stage of transition to digital reporting in the UK;
- Maintaining technical excellence, acting as the technical expert, including any changes to Customs and VAT rules after Brexit;
- Advising on indirect tax in relation to UK ERP implementation and upgrades, including SAP HANA;
- Identifying VAT and Customs duties risks and opportunities and delivering implementation;
- Technical VAT advice and compliance support;
- Ensures correct VAT application and set-up in the accounting processes of companies within the Lonza Group;
- Identify recommendations relating to their outsourcing functions;
- Preparing and managing the delivery of indirect tax returns to HMRC;
- Liaising with external consultants;
- Modelling best practice for VAT compliance in data extraction;
- Maintains contact with VAT authorities and assists during audits;
- Stays on top of indirect tax legislative changes in EMEA and ensures proper communication and implementation;
- Supports the finance team with the set-up of VAT codes and reports in SAP.
Requirements:
- ACA/ CIMA/ACCA/CTA or qualified by experience with 2+ years in-house indirect tax experience;
- Good accounting knowledge;
- Fluency in English, German is a plus;
- Strong knowledge of and practical experience with SAP;
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics, business, IT or accounting/controlling;
- Capability to challenge the status quo and look for opportunities to make improvements in assigned business areas and beyond;
- Ability to communicate at all levels of the business;
- Very good experience in EU VAT, Swiss VAT expertise is a plus;
- A flexible individual with strong communication skills.
