Our company is looking for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use;
  • Perform risk, value management and cost control;
  • Preparing tender and contracts documents, including bills of quantities;
  • Understand the implications of health and safety regulations;
  • Allocate work to subcontractors;
  • Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports;
  • Assist in establishing a client’s requirements and undertake feasibility studies;
  • Prepare and analyse costings for tenders;
  • Assisting with the planning of job timescales by understanding supplier leadtimes;
  • Researching materials, equipment, plant and labour costs;
  • Assist in cost monitoring of site resources;
  • Collecting quotes from materials suppliers and sub-contractors;
  • Helping with bids for new contracts;
  • Inputting and outputting data into established MS Excel estimating spreadsheets;
  • Assisting in assessing the levels of risk on a project.

Requirements:

  • Electrical or Mechanical bias with an appreciation for other packages;
  • Ideally a degree in Quantity Surveying;
  • 3 years + experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large scale construction projects;
  • Proven experience managing large scale packages;
  • Be aware of JCT and NEC Contracts;
  • Completing a degree, HND or HNC or equivalent in Quantity Surveying;
  • Previous experience of working within a commercial function;
  • MS Word and ES Excel experience;
  • Previous experience of QS in the industry;
  • New build experience desirable with a main contractor.
