Project Planner I is responsible for planning and scheduling various project workloads. Gathers and analyzes information to prepare status reports. Being a Project Planner I ensures that assignment and scheduling of work follow company policy. Evaluates current procedures and recommends changes to improve the efficiency of planning and scheduling of projects. Additionally, Project Planner I tracks costs using work orders and invoices. Documents work orders and projects and closes them in scheduling systems. Monitors schedule compliance levels and identifies reasons for completion shortfalls. Requires a bachelor’s degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Project Planner I works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed. To be a Project Planner I typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.

Our company is looking for a Project Planner to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing project administration support to assigned programmes, product groups and/or functional groups;
  • Develop reporting output from the project and work package risk registers;
  • Analyse data, explain trends and highlight potential issues;
  • Interface with relevant business functions as required to support the planning process;
  • Ensuring project plans are shared with all appropriate stakeholders and adhered to by them;
  • Leadership skills –Able to facilitate and lead on the development of schedules with Stakeholders at all levels;
  • Developing of fully resourcing costed Project plans using data provided by the Portfolio, Programme and Project management teams;
  • Providing Planning input to Investment approval and Change Control process, Risk and Opportunity process, and Peer reviews;
  • Maintaining Client expectations from programme point view;
  • Providing assistance for Portfolio Manager, Programme Managers and Bid Managers;
  • Identifying key variances within Projects and presentation of effective and compelling data in support of findings;
  • Developing and maintaining plans and schedules;
  • Business Development – Internal networking to develop new business and bid support to respond to external Requests for Proposals (RFPs);
  • Create and maintain robust project programmes to include cost and resource;
  • Software Skills – Able to use leading industry standard software and tools such as Primavera P6, ASTA Power Project, Microsoft Project.

Requirements:

  • Candidates should come ideally from an Aerospace, Engineering, Banking, Transport, High Technology background;
  • MS Excel & MS Project advanced level;
  • Ability to analyse and present complex data, to accurately manipulate data and transfer it between applications;
  • Primavera P6/ MS Project knowledge;
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines, multi-task and prioritise;
  • Loyalty at previous companies ( Not candidates who have moved around every year or 2);
  • Minimum 10 Years’ experience in similar role, particularly in large scale hotel construction rather than fit-out in the commercial sector;
  • Commercial and Business acumen;
  • Specific industry and project experience – water, defence, rail, highways;
  • Qualifications – Management of Portfolios Practitioner;
  • Experience using a Programme Management tool i.e. Primavera would be advantageous;
  • 45 hour + working week;
  • Current and valid Developed Vetting clearance;
  • Significant experience of Strategic Programme Planning within a Defence environment;
  • Equivalent experience is stated as an alternative to qualifications.
