Junior Designer

The Junior Designer prepares creative designs or related drawings or details; uses designs to develop specifications or estimates of materials needed for a project. Applies engineering or architectural principles to the design of buildings/structures and their components or assemblies. Being a Junior Designer typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a related area. May perform drafting duties requiring the use of CAD equipment or systems. In addition, Junior Designer typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Working as a Junior Designer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.

Our company is looking for a Junior Designer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with clients regarding designs they have provided;
  • Liaising with production to ensure quality and consistency;
  • Completing adhoc administrative duties as and when requested;
  • Producing and maintaining client files;
  • Assist production on work on an ad hoc basis;
  • Working in conjunction with the Design Manager and Sales team, turning their design briefs and requests into designs proposals;
  • Liaising with the installation team when needed;
  • Setup of print ready artwork;
  • Producing Works Orders to pass to production;
  • Reworking logos and designs on behalf of clients;
  • Advising clients on branding;
  • Take on special design tasks to support multiple projects (e.g. photo retouching);
  • Use feedback from leaders to improve work;
  • Able to work with different departments to maintain a consistently high output;
  • packaging.

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience with Adobe After Effects and/or Adobe Premiere Pro is desirable;
  • Degree in Design related disciplines or relevant experience;
  • An ability to deliver high quality work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to follow brand guidelines but who can also contribute new and exciting ideas when required;
  • Strong communication skills with a high level of interpersonal and presentation skills; the ability to constructively shape conversation;
  • Keen sense of visual storytelling and composition;
  • Typography is life;
  • The ability to generate creative ideas with strong research skills – you need to understand your audience;
  • Understanding of visual elements (layout, type and fonts);
  • Strong layout and typography skills;
  • Keen eye for detail;
  • Willingness to help and assist at ‘foodie’ events;
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy and demanding department;

  • Knowledge of Adobe CC (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
