Principal Systems Engineer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Development and delivery of safety documents as required to support customer requirements;
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise;
- Develop statements of work and work packages with clients;
- Modelling of components of the System design;
- Management of the Edinburgh MDE, Modularity & Re-Use SharePoint (Systems) to promote knowledge sharing for GPU, AI and ML;
- Provide consultancy to client project and engineering managers;
- Use modelling to explore the design space and perform system analysis and trade-off studies ;
- Liaise with RF and digital design specialists to develop candidate digital receiver concepts and architectures ;
- Support the system integration and test activities;
- Implement quality assurance to satisfy both corporate and client;
- Support verification of the system requirements;
- Plan and conduct studies in a wide variety of communication technologies including SDR, RF, telecommunications and bespoke solutions;
- Planning, budget, timelines, resource planning in alignment with company policies;
- Liaison with the test and acceptance team to ensure timely customer acceptance;
- Engage with wider industry to understand and shape potential solutions.
Requirements:
- Corporate Member of an engineering institute;
- proficient in Microsoft Office products;
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant experience within ICT, Cyber or Systems Engineering;
- Will ideally be professionally recognised with an appropriate institution e.g. CEng, CSEP;
- Highly effective written and oral communication skills;
- Liaison with the test and acceptance team to ensure timely customer acceptance;
- Plan and conduct studies in a wide variety of communication technologies including SDR, RF, telecommunications and bespoke solutions;
- Railway Systems experience;
- Support verification of the system requirements;
- Infrastructure;
- Modelling of components of the System design;
- Chartered Engineer and member of a professional institution;
- Support the system integration and test activities;
- Knowledge of UK Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations;
