Head Housekeeper

Head of Housekeeping directs and coordinates the daily operations of a housekeeping services department to ensure offices, patient/guest rooms, and other specified areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition. Conducts inspections of facilities and recommends repairs and upgrades when needed. Being a Head of Housekeeping ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. May create quality standards and monitors the implementation. Additionally, Head of Housekeeping may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Head of Housekeeping typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Head of Housekeeping typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.

Our company is looking for a Head Housekeeper to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all residents’ wardrobes and clothing drawers are kept clean, neat and tidy;
  • To implement and maintain cleaning schedules for the entire home and ensure that they are adhered too;
  • To attend resident/relative meetings whenever possible;
  • To ensure cleaning of all areas of the home are to the highest standard, including grounds;
  • Conducting daily walkabouts and spot checks;
  • Stock control and managing stock takes;
  • Ensuring Departmental Training Plans and Inductions are completed with each new starter;
  • Ensuring rotas are completed and that each shift is covered appropriately at all times;
  • Holding a department meeting once a month to ensure that regular communication of hotel information is passed on to the staff;
  • Issuing and maintaining staff uniforms;
  • Help new colleagues through induction process and complete all areas to the highest standard;
  • Liaising with suppliers, making sure we have the right equipment for the job;
  • Complete monthly rotas, always ensuring home is fully staffed and within allocated hours;
  • Interviewing and selecting all Housekeeping staff;
  • Build and maintain working relationships with Manager and colleagues, care and non-care.

Requirements:

  • Experience within a care or hotel environment is desirable;
  • Experience leading or managing a Housekeeping or Cleaning service;
  • An ability to provide and demonstrate excellent levels of customer service, and good attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of COSHH, Health and Safety and ideally Food Standards;
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
