Our company is looking for a Kitchen Assistant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Sweep and mop floors at the beginning and ending of shifts;
  • Keep all kitchen work surfaces (counters, sinks, stoves, walls) clean and sanitised;
  • Maintaining an organized and hygienic work station;
  • Ensuring all areas are kept clean and tidy to promote a safe working environment at all times;
  • Assisting in checking and monitoring of kitchen equipment and food storage;
  • Ensure Health and Safety standards are adhered to;
  • Working with raw meat products;
  • Weighing finished products;
  • To ensure that the kitchen cleaning rota is adhered to at all times and that the kitchen is hygienically clean and the floor mopped when necessary;
  • To ensure all washed items are clean and dry before putting them away;
  • To assist to put away any supplies delivered to the Home promptly;
  • Working in a chilled environment;
  • Assist in providing additional catering on site to fit in with events/seasons as required;
  • Undertake and record temperature checks and ensure high standards of food hygiene are maintained;
  • Ensuring the kitchen area is clean and safe to work in.

Requirements:

  • Caring nature;
  • Flexibility and be able to adapt to the needs of Residents;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually;
  • Experience in a catering environment is desirable but not essential;
  • Ability to work efficiently at a quick pace;
  • Experience working within a Kitchen environment;
  • Level 2 Food and Hygiene Certificate;
  • Must be able to provide references for previous 3 years;
  • Must be able to obtain a DBS Certificate;
  • Basic experience is essential for this role;
  • To have a genuine interest for older people;
  • To have the ability to work effectively within a team environment;
  • A passion for catering;
  • Previous catering assistant within schools is not required;
  • Previous experience within a catering environment is preferred, with knowledge of food preparation and basic hygiene.
