Home Care Assistant Job Description Template

Our company is looking for a Home Care Assistant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with other carers in order to achieve optimum independence for individual users;
  • Report accurate and relevant information to appropriate person to assist with the quality of service provision;
  • Follow procedures and complete appropriate recording documentation;
  • Provide or assist with personal care when required;
  • Contribute information in review of service users and updated personal plans;
  • Meal preparation;
  • Moving and handling;
  • Helping our clients reconnect with their local community;
  • Companionship;
  • Domiciliary Care;
  • General household tasks including shopping and household chores;
  • Forming great relationships with clients and their families;
  • Protecting clients from harm (safeguarding);
  • Administering medication.

Requirements:

  • You must be a car owner with a full driving licence;
  • You must live locally;
  • Understanding of the needs and rights of older people and people with disabilities;
  • Ability to communicate clearly to service users and other professionals;
  • Ability to cope with demanding work from both a physical and emotional perspective;
  • The ability to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters;
  • It is essential that you have a driving licence and access to a vehicle;
  • Ability to work on own initiative;
  • Hours will include early mornings, lunchtimes, evenings;
  • Usual working hours are as follows: – 7am – 2pm, 4pm – 10pm and every other weekend;
  • Flexibility: flexible hours to suit you, part-time and full-time;
  • Full and part-time hours are available;
  • Qualifications: A QCF Level 2 in Care (or equivalent) is preferred but not essential;
  • Full and part-time hours available including every other weekend;
  • Experience: Some previous In Home Caregiver experience would be an advantage but full training is provided.
