HGV Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a HGV Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out 6 weekly inspections;
- Carrying out Service, Maintenance and Repair of a mixed fleet of vehicles;
- Maintain a thorough and current knowledge of products and attend training courses;
- Carrying out inspections;
- Completion of MOT preparation;
- Engine / Gearbox repairs & overhauls;
- MOT Preparation / Presentation;
- Maintain current product knowledge and attend training courses as required;
- Completion of all required paperwork;
- Be able to liaise with both your colleagues but also customers;
- Complete job cards and service sheets using online systems correctly and in line with warranty protocol;
- Ensure all aspects of H&S working practices are adhered to;
- Fault diagnosis and rectification using the manufacturers computer system and tooling;
- Working with the Maintenance team to maintain and repair all customer vehicles as required;
- Diagnosing and rectifying all types of HGV faults.
Requirements:
- Experience in the diagnosis, servicing, maintenance and repair of vehicles;
- NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds Equivalent;
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a larger team as well as on their own initiative;
- Diagnostic equipment knowledge/experience;
- Class C + E an advantage;
- Flexible approach to working hours;
- HGV Licence advantageous but not essential;
- At least 3 years’ experience;
- Time served Technician 5 years’ experience;
- Experience in heavy vehicle maintenance, fitting and repair;
- LGV C + E licence beneficial not essential;
- A full clean UK driving licence;
- Own tools;
- Keen eye for detail;
- Able to work under pressure.
