Commercial Lawyer Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Commercial Lawyer to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Support other Senior Legal Counsel on other matters as and when required, in particular in relation to impact of forthcoming regulatory changes;
- Managing external counsel on matters such as HR, property, disputes, M&A, intra-group financing arrangements;
- Identifying regulatory change issues that are relevant for internal stakeholders;
- Ensure all activities are in line with Invesco’s Conduct principles;
- Assisting with supervision of paralegals;
- Advising on general contract law and topical legal issues;
- Dealing with any post-contract legal issues that may arise;
- Involvement in ongoing commercial management of contracts;
- Supporting sales activities, negotiating key contracts and providing ad hoc legal advice;
- General ad hoc legal support and advice (potentially including some company secretarial matters);
- Assisting with the provision of accurate and effective advice in connection with any proposed acquisitions and joint ventures made by the business;
- General negotiation and completion of commercial contracts;
- UK qualified solicitor or lawyer qualified in another jurisdiction provided relevant experience has been gained in English law;
- Assisting/dealing with any disputes.
Requirements:
- Ideally 2-3 years post qualification experience (PQE);
- Experience of IT, outsourcing, TUPE, major projects, public sector procurements and consumer law would be advantageous but is not essential;
- Commercially astute with ability to identify key issues and suggest pragmatic solutions;
- Ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload;
- Experience of general commercial / contract law is essential;
- Ability to quickly grasp and solve complex problems, analyse and identify problems and issues;
- This role will be based in London and require the ability to travel to Henley or other office locations within EMEA;
- Ability to multi-task, prioritise and be flexible to changing priorities and demonstrate good organisational and analytical skills;
- A strong team player who is able to participate in discussions on legal topics with colleagues;
- Motivated and proactive approach to addressing legal issues;
- A keen interest in asset management and Invesco’s business;
- Unquestionable integrity and high standards of conduct;
- Keen willingness to learn, and an eye for detail to ensure that tasks are completed to a high standard and in accordance with business expectations;
