Our company is looking for a Health and Safety Advisor to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure swift communications of any Hazards, potential unsafe conditions to the project and escalate as need be;
  • Supporting conformance to ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems;
  • Liaising with Luxfer MEL Technologies sites regarding best practice;
  • To support team leaders in conducting risk assessments;
  • To administer the safety management system, including risk assessments, SOP’s, care points, health and safety boards (communications);
  • To assist with all health and safety enquiries received;
  • Monitor and review current working practices. Monitor Health & Safety records, including plant maintenance, to ensure Company compliance;
  • Offer general Health and Safety advice and support, including monitoring and reporting on control measures (e.g. PPE) to employees and managers;
  • Upon request, produce reports to analyse health and safety-related data, draw conclusions and make recommendations on appropriate actions to be taken;
  • Implementing and contributing to the health and safety strategy and the development of internal policy;
  • Reviewing, updating and creating risk assessments across the business;
  • Providing support and information to all departmental managers and staff required;
  • Delivering safety training;
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, and lead by example to ensure company goals are achieved and exceeded;
  • Promoting health and safety throughout the Project.

Requirements:

  • Working towards associate membership of a recognised environmental professional body;
  • A strong understanding of the application of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant legislation;
  • Computer literacy with intermediate to advanced experience of Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook,
  • IOSH managing Safely or SMSTS as a minimum;
  • Passive Fire Protection knowledge;
  • Proven H&S experience in a multi-site role/environment;
  • The ability to effectivelycommunicate with and influence a large number of stakeholders;
  • Detailed knowledge of Health, Safety & Environment Legislation;
  • CSCS Card;
  • Plus an appropriate qualification (or appropriate relevant experience) in the specialist area of Fire and Rescue Health and Safety;
  • Sound technical knowledge of the construction process in general and awareness of their own limitations;
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation required to advise on all aspects of risk management within the Trust;
  • Good IT and written skills;
  • European Computer Driving Licence, or equivalent qualification or experience demonstrating good working knowledge of IT systems/procedures;
  • Accident Investigation training.
