Health, Safety and Environmental Manager Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Health, Safety and Environmental Manager to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Put forward suggestions for improvement of any processes;
- Follow all procedures within the company minimising any business risks;
- To support & promote compliance activities in all areas of the business as required through indirect leadership and influence;
- Lead and direct functional management for any HSE personnel under your control;
- Maintenance of positive working relationships with external certification bodies to maximise value add from their involvement with the business;
- Responsible for reviewing accident and incident HSE reports and investigations;
- Responsible for developing, promoting and monitoring the HSE culture;
- Make changes to working practices and procedures to ensure they are safe and meet legislation;
- Preparing method statements, risk assessments and construction phase plans, and undertaking site inspections throughout Sussex and the South;
- Tasked with ensuring all accidents are fully investigated and reported to the Health and Safety Executive correctly;
- Carry out regular HSE site inspections;
- Take the lead in collating data and producing reports for all Environmental, Health & Safety matters;
- Manage key Environmental, Health & Safety processes including reporting, audits, compliance (EA, EUETS, OMA, ISO, internal, etc.);
- To review and enhance the current Heath, Safety & Environmental system, procedures based on best practise;
- Maintaining our accreditations, 9001, 14001 and 45001.
Requirements:
- Proactive with new ideas for efficiencies, improvements;
- Member of a relevant professional institute/chartered status;
- Valid Driving Licence;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work on own initiative and to act as an effective team member;
- Confidentiality of sensitive material;
- 5 years in Utility/Contractor business working with LV/HV/EHV apparatus;
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
- Environmental Diploma;
- A track record of success working with cross functional project teams to develop and embed a “safety first” approach;
- Of auditing and managing EHS management systems to ISO 14001:2004 and ROSPA;
- Experience of budgets and audits;
- NEBOSH in Construction (Desirable);
- Degree or HND or HNC (or equivalent) in a related construction subject (desirable);
- Specialist qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety Management/Audit Systems (minimum diploma level).
