Our company is looking for a Research Scientist to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to projects and initial discovery trails;
  • Supporting the tissue culturing and plant regeneration group;
  • Independently designing and carrying out routine experiments;
  • Organise work effectively and manage time to work on multiple projects;
  • Organise and maintain lab equipment to high standards, including maintenance and cleaning;
  • Working on complex projects using cutting edge technology and equipment;
  • Aid in the identification, testing and transfer of new methods/technologies in the field of protein chromatography;
  • Identify purification and antibody quality abnormalities, alert stakeholders with observations and consider possible solutions;
  • Identify and solve problems associated with their experiments and discuss with other team members;
  • Optional experience in large scale production of proteins, including endotoxin free proteins and/or production of modified or labelled proteins;
  • Experience in the purification of proteins (including antibodies) for target validation, screening and/or structure;
  • Experience in the biochemical, physicochemical and functional characterization of proteins;
  • To be an effective team member in supporting Discovery Projects to meet their objectives;
  • To maintain an awareness of current developments in the literature and to make effective use of appropriate literature search tools;
  • To contribute to the interpretation of experimental data and play a significant role in the planning of further experiments.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in at least one of the listed roles applied to Earth Observation;
  • Able to provide technical leadership across a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Can think strategically and pragmatically;
  • Collaborative with other senior scientists and able to encourage and coach junior scientists/engineers;
  • Experience of mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques;
  • Be willing and ready to learn new antibody purification techniques on top of refining those already acquired;
  • Excellent Team Player Skills;
  • Experience running AKTA/Unicorn purification systems and UPLC/Empower and/or HPLC;
  • Experience in the biochemical, physicochemical and functional characterization of proteins;
  • Experience in the purification of proteins (including antibodies) for target validation, screening and/or structure;
  • Experience in the purification of antibodies, antibody fragments and novel antibody format biologicals from mammalian expression platforms;
  • Competence in a range of protein characterisation techniques e.g. Western Blotting;
  • Optional experience in large scale production of proteins, including endotoxin free proteins and/or production of modified or labelled proteins;
  • BSc or MSc in a relevant Scientific Field.
