Assistant Financial Accountant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Assistant Financial Accountant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Analytical review below gross margin for European entities;
- Support of the VAT Manager, providing another point of contact to the business, and back-up for the preparation of returns and on-going compliance;
- Supervisory role in preparation of all European payrolls, performing review and approval of data, and providing cover to the team when required;
- Assist with the upgrade and ongoing maintenance of the Financial Reporting software system from a Finance perspective;
- Ensuring that a “pro-active” approach is taken to the cleanliness of all balance sheet and other accounts within the wider team;
- Ad-hoc project work to support objectives of the wider finance team;
- Producing Management accounts for various UK Commercial Revenue streams;
- Support the UK Financial Audit and liaise with the auditors with queries/Information requests;
- Providing finance support to Group Operations management;
- Reviewing and checking foreign VAT on various transactions;
- Preparation of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations for multiple entities and in multiple currencies;
- Undertake various projects;
- Ad hoc support for the directors and financial accountant;
- Preparation of monthly accounts and quarterly reporting for board packs;
- Provide support with accruals and deferrals.
Requirements:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Good understanding of VAT;
- An awareness of VAT for the exhibition and events sector;
- Experience of VAT reconciliations and SOX compliance;
- You will be studying ACA/ACCA/CIMA or have relevant finance degree or equivalent qualified experience;
- An ability to work to tight deadlines and manage your own workload effectively;
- Strong oral and written communication skills;
- Advance excel user (pivot tables, complex formula, data models, macros);
- Actively seeks to improve processes making them more effective and efficient;
- High level of attention to detail;
- Strong team management skills and experience of tasks outlined above are a must;
- Good work Ethic;
- Good communication (verbal & written) with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the business;
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA part qualified;
- Effective organizational ability and time management skills are crucial, and you must be able to work to tight deadlines.
