Chief of Staff

Chief of Staff plans and directs all administrative, financial, and operational activities for the organization’s President, CEO or other executive. Organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information for the executive to facilitate efficient decision making. Being a Chief of Staff acts as a point of contact or gatekeeper between top management and other stakeholders. Provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance. Additionally, Chief of Staff may act as an advisor to the chief executive. May be responsible for the management of executive support staff. Requires a bachelor’s degree. Typically reports to CEO or executive. The Chief of Staff manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Chief of Staff typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Keeping alert to new business opportunities;
  • Managing his diary and arranging travel;
  • Managing four personal properties internationally as well as the household staff;
  • Reviewing contracts and liaising with legal counsel;

Requirements:

  • Good degree (2:1 or above / 3.2 GPA or above) from a university; MBA or another post-graduate degree from leading programme strongly preferred;
  • Understanding of best practices within industry for media operations (processes, regulations, tools, etc.);
  • Fluency in various channels and tactics across marketing, as well as comfort with wide range of industries/clients;
  • Unique levels of professionalism (presentable, discrete, diplomatic) and approachability, able to deal with highly confidential information;
  • Strong ability to own activities to completion, while balancing focus across many competing priorities;
  • Calm and flexible with helpful approach to solving problems in agile yet proactive, ownership-minded manner;
  • Strong organisational skills combined with a multi-disciplinary work ethic;
  • Previous experience in a role with similar responsibilities in a fast moving/ growing start-up;
  • Likely prior consultancy experience;
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work with and influence multiple stakeholders;
  • Prior start-up/scale-up experience is essential.
