Our company is looking for a Communications Officer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily management of the website through the addition of new content and on site optimization;
  • Develop and maintain proactive relationships with key stakeholders including media;
  • Develop and maintain a relationship of trust and respect with key stakeholders, including communications partners;
  • Liaise with peers in local authorities across the North and partner organisations nationally to feed into wider communications planning;
  • Help to plan, commission and produce social media and website content;
  • Support and lead on internal communications;
  • Proactively work with the communications team to develop and deliver the corporate communications strategy;
  • Perform ad hoc duties as required by the communications team to support the department;
  • Ensure all communications activity accurately protects the reputation of Mary’s Meals and promotes our brand values, style and key messages;
  • Develop individual communication plans for school including full implementation;
  • Leading the digital communications including maximising use of social media platforms;
  • Contribute to the creation of creative campaigns and content that tells the Mary’s Meals story, building support for our vision;
  • Implementing an effective crisis communications strategy;
  • Creating, implementing and overseeing all the communications and PR programmes;
  • Utilise a range of digital platforms to engage UK supporters, including Mary’s Meals’ social media channels, email marketing system and website.

Requirements:

  • Highly organised, with an ability to think on your feet and work at pace;
  • Digital skills including some experience of using social and digital channels to engage audiences;
  • Ability to write effective and concise copy;
  • Experience of using a content management system and Photoshop is desirable;
  • Strong IT skills and an understanding of digital communication methods including social media;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills;
  • Interest in and understanding of healthcare and/or regulation desirable;
  • Proven experience of working on communications campaigns;
  • Ability to understand complex issues;
  • Experience of producing and editing internal and external communications;
  • Willingness to travel (ideally a car owner);
  • Experience in a relevant organisation or great knowledge of the industry;
  • Experience working with press/media ideally within an educational setting;
  • Previous experience of identifying, designing and delivering campaigns;
  • good planning skills and the ability to re-organise plans to accommodate new priorities.
