Junior Merchandiser Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Junior Merchandiser to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Presenting ideas to Senior Merchandiser to finalise strategy;
- Conduct regular competitor shops to understand market;
- Maintaining awareness of competitor performance and providing indepth weekly/ monthly competitor shop analysis;
- Trading the Department daily to highlight potential repeat opportunities and managing under-performance;
- Handling supply/production problems as they arise;
- Managing stock levels/ risks and distribution of stock;
- Have weekly intake meetings with Marketing to update on product availability;
- Work closely with the buying team and provide them with accurate information on historical sales and sizes that sell;
- Collating and presenting in-depth analysis in season, building towards seasonal strategy, framework and buy plan presentations;
- Liaise with Distribution Centre/Suppliers and Imports to ensure stock is available on time;
- Working with ecoms to ensure we are maximising sales by displaying the product correctly;
- Predicting sales forecasts, trends and maximising profits while controlling stock cover and commitment, for minimal mark down;
- Starting to think about Managing budgets, Wssi management, OTB management with the support of a merchandiser/ senior merch;
- Remain up to date with all competitors, trends etc;
- Produce availability reports for product/brochure launches.
Requirements:
- Ability to communicate at all levels;
- Currently working as an Assistant or Junior Merchandiser within a retail head office is essential;
- Strong Excel and data handling skills;
- Understanding of how stores differ / how to trade them;
- Strong numerical / analytical / IT skills (specifically Microsoft Excel);
- Able to communicate confidently at all levels;
- Adaptable to change in a dynamic business;
- Reactive;
- Highly skilled in merchandise planning and forecasting;
- WSSI experience / understanding;
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Strong commercial and numerate skills;
- Effective time management skills and ability to prioritise to meet key deadlines;
- Hardworking and resilient;
- Analytical, able to solve problems under pressure in a fast-paced, but fun environment.
