Senior Merchandiser Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Senior Merchandiser to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Measure and analyse all commercial decisions within the merchandising function, ensuring that any learning translates into commercial success;
- Create and nurture a symbiotic working relationship with counter-parts in our Buying Team;
- Liaising with external suppliers and the Trading team;
- Ensuring KPIs are achieved and costs are in line with budget & Supply Chain plans;
- Develop and agree plans in partnership with the Buyer that achieve sales and profit targets and implement the agreed departmental strategy;
- Forecasting sales and stock and identifying risks and opportunities through use of WSSI and Line Cards;
- Evaluate market and customer information together with historical data and forward trends to develop the department’s phased plans;
- Producing category sales and margin forecasts;
- Analyse suppliers’ delivery performance and, in conjunction with the Buyer, take appropriate actions;
- The delivery of effective stock management and management of the team resources;
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers;
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, sales and profit targets;
- Quantification of ‘Open to buy’ with phased commitment to increase flexibility throughout the season;
- Improving stock turnover for the whole category;
- Proposing and agreeing OTB.
Requirements:
- Comfortable working at pace and with ambiguity;
- You have a number of commercial successes to hang your hat on;
- You’re an entrepreneur at heart and see opportunities where others do not;
- Exceptional planning and organisation skills;
- Highly numerate and data driven;
- Previous experience in licensing would be an advantage;
- Ability to work under pressure & cope with tight deadlines;
