Our company is looking for a Transport Operations Manager to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Driving quality of service;
  • Driver de-brief;
  • Operational administration as required;
  • Understanding of pallet network and groupage operations;
  • Managing in-branch HR for transport team members, including mentoring staff to reach targets, identifying skill gaps and training needs;
  • Managing a team of transport supervisors & administrators;
  • To ensure that all relevant paperwork is handed in from the drivers on a weekly basis;
  • Ensured legal compliance with Operator’s License and DVLA / DVSA requirements, whilst maximising efficiency and productivity;
  • Supervising a transport operation;
  • Contribute to the depot strategy and wider business plan, and the implementation of new initiatives and systems;
  • Identifying training needs of all divisional staff and working with the training department and HR to achieve the goal;
  • Manage Driver duties within WTD regulations;
  • Working with the companies BDM to identify opportunities of growth with both existing and new Customers;
  • Ensure that the drivers understand and work within the legal regulations in their work;
  • Provide support and direction to all staff.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3+ years Logistics management experience;
  • Have managed in excess of 50+ staff previously;
  • Experience on managing budgets up to £500,000 per year;
  • Have experience of LEAN methodologies;
  • Ability to build positive working relations with customers, suppliers and colleagues;
  • Must be IT literate (Including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel;
  • Experience in an operational role in a logistics or haulage business;
  • Full driving license;
  • Able to coach and encourage individuals to perform at their best;
  • Able to demonstrate a good standard in presentation skills and be an excellent can communicator;
  • Conscientious, engaging and with a strong attention to detail;
  • Good all round knowledge of the applicable vehicle and its installed equipment;
  • Good levels of physical fitness;
  • Adaptable to change;
  • Relevant License classification holder.
