Senior Bookkeeper Job Description Template

Our company is looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Queries;
  • Processing payments;
  • Preparation of VAT returns;
  • Reconciliation of certain balance sheet accounts;
  • Balance sheet account reconciliations;
  • Processing invoices;
  • Producing accounts up to trial balance;
  • Supporting and guiding junior members of the team;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Dealing with any queries from clients over the phone, email and in person;
  • Preferable experience in dealing with payroll;
  • Proficient in the use of Xero, QuickBooks and Sage;
  • VAT – processing client VAT returns and submitting them to HMRC;
  • Ideally have experience within an accountancy practice but for the right person this is not essential;
  • Xero skills essential.

Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of QuickBooks and other MTD compliant/bridging software an advantage;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Excel essential;
  • Ideally have experience within an accountancy practice but for the right person this is not essential;
  • Excellent knowledge of Xero and Xero Apps. Xero certification is required and MTD certification would be an advantage;
  • Excellent knowledge of double entry bookkeeping, VAT;
  • Knowledge of other Accounting software would be useful;
  • Excellent knowledge of Sage Line 50;
  • Preferable experience in dealing with payroll;
  • Proficient in the use of Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.
