MOT Tester/Technician Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a MOT Tester/Technician to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake Electronic Vehicle Health Checks;
- Obtain appropriate authorisation if additional work is required on a vehicle;
- Provide a knowledgeable, courteous, responsive, and efficient service to all workshop customers personifying the brand;
- Undertake vehicle road testing for diagnosis and to test repairs;
- Be open to try new methods of work designed to improve efficiency;
- Conduct full examinations of vehicles and identify non-routine defects, or additional faults either in the workshop or during road tests;
- Carry out vehicle health checks and identify areas of concern;
- Carry out preparations for new vehicles;
- Ensure vehicle safety standards have been complied with when returned to customers;
- Ensure correct materials, tools and measuring devices are used;
- Record details of work including all hours worked and material usage;
- Complete work orders including details of repairs completed, parts required and labour to be charged;
- Conduct routine service work on vehicles brought into the workshop;
- Ensure all work is completed to manufacturer standards and rules;
- Remove and install vehicle components in accordance with the manufacturer’s methodology.
Requirements:
- Passionate about the industry, and committed to the development of your technical knowledge and skills;
- Customer focused, able to keep customers experience and safety in mind throughout the service or diagnosis and repair;
- Possess good communication skills with the ability to explain technical information to colleagues and customers accurately and concisely;
- Honest with high levels of integrity;
- Team Player – assist other technicians when workshop is under pressure, and take ownership of any safety issues you identify in the workshop;
- Thorough and able to work with defined processes and guidelines;
- Have genuine commitment to delivering first class customer service;
- An MOT licence;
- Full UK driving licence required;
- Hold a valid MOT licence;
- Main dealer or Independent experience;
- Act on your own initiative and take responsibility for the quality of your own work;

- Full UK driving licence;
- The ability to interact with our customers effectively.
