Hazlegrove Preparatory School is seeking an enthusiastic, creative and highly motivated Head of Design & Technology to lead our well-resourced department from January 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Head of Department or an ambitious Design & Technology teacher looking to progress into leadership. The successful candidate will lead and develop Design & Technology across the Prep School, teaching and inspiring pupils aged 2–13.
Hazlegrove is a thriving co-educational prep school for around 360 pupils, including approximately 70 full boarders. Set within 200 acres of parkland, the school offers outstanding facilities and a warm, ambitious learning environment.
The department includes a fully equipped workshop, digital realisation room and 3D-printing facilities, supported by a full-time, term-time DT Technician. The role includes responsibility for curriculum planning, teaching and learning, assessment, resources, budgets, departmental development, displays and health and safety. You will promote Design & Technology through STEM, cross-curricular projects, scholarship preparation, clubs, trips and activities for boarders.
Applicants should have strong Design & Technology subject knowledge, excellent organisation and communication skills, and a commitment to creative, high-quality teaching. An interest in teaching ICT or another subject would be an advantage.
This is a full-time role, including Saturday afternoons and one Sunday duty per term. Benefits include pension, fee remission, sick pay, lunch and free parking.
