Highways Maintenance Operative - Fencing

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Maintenance Pre-siter to join our Area 7 Highways team , joining our vibrant, inclusive community that celebrates our differences and makes a real impact across the UK.

You will assess a broad range of planned highway works, completing pre-site visits to identify the labour, vehicles, equipment, materials and access arrangements required to deliver each activity safely and efficiently.

You will work closely with supervisors, pre-works coordinators, planners, operational managers and the schemes team to help prepare highway maintenance activities across the Area 7 network.

The role may include winter maintenance and emergency call-out operations.

Completing pre-site assessments for traffic management, minor civil engineering works, drainage, carriageway patching, Vehicle Restraint Systems, fencing, street lighting, damaged signs, depot activities and minor schemes

Liaising with Area team supervisors, Level 1 operatives, pre-works coordinators, planners and the schemes team

Maintaining accurate paperwork and digital records

Attending project meetings, work briefings and operational reviews as required

Supporting winter maintenance and emergency call-out operations when required

Communicating with Amey colleagues, subcontractors, clients, emergency services, the police and members of the public

Good overall knowledge and experience of highway maintenance operations

SMSTS qualification , together with knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations

GS6 training or working knowledge of GS6 requirements

Knowledge of traffic management, drainage, fencing and Vehicle Restraint System works

Computer and tablet skills

Planning, record-keeping and communication skills

A full UK driving licence

Knowledge of the Area 7 road network

The ability to work effectively with operational teams, clients, subcontractors and members of the public

Training may be available for a suitable candidate who demonstrates the right operational knowledge and aptitude for the role.
