Do you want to help people to gain more control over their lives? If so, then becoming an Enabling liaison officer may be the post for you…. Please note that this post does not qualify or meet the criteria as per Home Office Regulations to be eligible for a certificate of sponsorship visa category.

Rotherham Enabling service works with people in the community to help them learn new skills or increase confidence in their daily activities.

The people we see may have experienced a spell of ill health or change in their circumstances so need some short-term support to allow them to return to previous levels of independence.

The service differs from ‘traditional’ home care support in that the emphasis is on helping people to ‘do’ for themselves rather than having things done for them.

Enabling liaison officers will visit people in their own home and monitor how this direct support is delivered to them.

Part of the role of the ‘Enablement Liaison Officer’ is to undertake set ups of service, completing risk assessments and care plans, reviewing of peoples care and support needs, monitoring goals and achievements and reducing/increasing calls and ending service in conjunction with the people we are supporting.

The ‘Enablement Liaison Officer’ will liaise with Coordinators on a regular basis to ensure our customers receive a streamlined service and smooth transition back to an increased level of independence wherever possible. The ‘Enablement Liaison’ will be also responsible for supporting and monitoring the Enabling support workers performance and undertaking observed practice in the community on a regular basis.

We are registered with the Care Quality Commission with an overall ‘good’ rating, but we are working towards achieving an ‘outstanding’ rating.

should help us to achieve this in future.

Travel is an essential part of this job and although being a car user is not essential, the expectation would be that postholders can travel across the Rotherham Borough. The service operates from 6.45 am until 10pm every day of the year so this role includes working shifts with a consistent rota.

Bank holiday and weekend working enhancement are paid.

A full induction and training is provided as well as regular supervision and team meetings.

This post involves working with adults and therefore if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at an enhanced level. Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is committed to encouraging equality, diversity and inclusion among our workforce, and eliminating unlawful discrimination. As a Disability Confident employer, we will ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants that meet the minimum criteria for this position will be offered an interview. For further information, please visit our website.

Confirmation of this appointment is also subject to a medical assessment.
