English Teacher Teacher - ECT
A welcoming and well-organised 11–18 secondary school in Salford is seeking an enthusiastic Early Career Teacher of English to join its supportive English department from January 2026.
This school has a strong reputation for developing new teachers well. ECTs are seen as a long-term investment, with structured mentoring, reduced timetable and a genuinely collegiate culture where questions and reflection are encouraged.
The Role
You will teach English across Key Stages 3 and 4 , delivering a carefully sequenced curriculum that balances literature, language and literacy development. Planning is shared, expectations are clear, and you will never be left to “figure things out alone”.
Your role will include:
Teaching KS3 and GCSE English with access to shared schemes of work
Developing strong classroom routines with support from experienced colleagues
Using feedback and assessment to support pupil progress
Observing experienced teachers and being observed in a supportive, coaching-focused way
Taking part in departmental planning and moderation
ECT Support
Reduced timetable in line with ECF requirements
Dedicated subject mentor within the English department
Weekly mentoring meetings and instructional coaching
Access to high-quality CPD and trust-wide networks
