Legal and Compliance Counsel - Flexible

The Legal team sits at the heart of TradingView and it’s a very important part of the business. This team supports all other TradingView teams, helping us achieve our goals each and every day.
From structuring credit programmes and advising on innovative features to supporting launches into new territories, the Legal team does it all - including acting as key specialists in market data, intellectual property, and disputes.
We're looking for a Legal Counsel to join our dedicated team responsible for responding to high-priority, complex, and often time-sensitive challenges. You'll develop and execute proactive strategies, act as a subject matter expert in market data, IP, and disputes, and be involved in decision-making on critical issues that impact our business. Lead the negotiation, drafting, and execution of complex commercial agreements with technology partners, strategic vendors, and service providers, with particular focus on SaaS, cloud, data processing, security, and market data licensing arrangements.
Provide senior-level legal counsel to executives and cross-functional leadership on a broad range of legal matters, including market data regulation, intellectual property, disputes, data protection, cybersecurity, commercial risk, and regulatory exposure.
Act as a key legal advisor on market data usage, redistribution, licensing compliance, and exchange/vendor agreements, ensuring alignment with applicable regulatory and contractual frameworks.
Own and evolve vendor legal governance - advising on contract status, liability allocation, risk mitigation, and performance obligations across the vendor lifecycle.
Partner closely with Security, Engineering, Product, Compliance, and HR to ensure legal alignment on platform security, data protection, incident response, and secure product development.
Lead legal strategy for protection, enforcement, dispute resolution, and commercialisation of intellectual property, including trademarks, copyright, trade secrets, software, and other registered and unregistered rights globally.
Manage and advise on contentious matters and disputes, including pre-litigation strategy, regulatory inquiries, and coordination with external counsel where required.
Design, implement, and scale legal processes and contract management frameworks to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and risk visibility across the company.
Advise on data protection and privacy obligations (including GDPR and global frameworks), data processing agreements, cross-border transfers, and product-related data risk.
Identify, assess, monitor, manage, and report on legal and compliance risks associated with TradingView products, technology integrations, market data dependencies, and commercial operations.
Develop and maintain policies, playbooks, and training to strengthen legal, IP, dispute management, security, and data governance across the organisation.
Support strategic initiatives, regulatory readiness, and special projects as required by senior leadership.
3-5 years of PQE, with strong experience in commercial technology, market data, intellectual property, disputes, data protection, and vendor contracting.

• exposure to regulated environments, market data providers/exchanges, and interaction with regulators is advantageous.
• Deep expertise in negotiating complex commercial, technology, SaaS, cloud, data processing, market data licensing, and vendor agreements, with strong commercial and risk judgement.
• Demonstrated knowledge of intellectual property strategy and protection, including software, trademarks, copyright, trade secrets, and licensing, as well as experience handling IP-related disputes or enforcement matters.
• Experience managing or supporting disputes, litigation, or regulatory investigations, with the ability to assess risk and coordinate effective resolution strategies.
• Solid understanding of data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity frameworks (including GDPR), and experience advising on data risk, security, and cross-border data issues.
• Excellent stakeholder management, executive communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear business guidance.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth, and product-driven environment, balancing legal risk with commercial and strategic objectives.

Private practice and/or in-house experience in a financial services organisation.
Prior experience working with market data vendors, exchanges, or financial information services, or advising on contentious/regulatory matters in a fintech environment.
