- undertake comprehensive assessments for adhd and or autism in line with NICE and clinic protocols
- complete detailed clinical histories including developmental mental health and risk assessments
- use standardised assessment tools and diagnostic frameworks to inform clinical decision making
- assess for coexisting conditions including mental health substance misuse and neurodevelopmental differences
- identify and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with policy and statutory requirements
- formulate diagnostic outcomes and provide clear evidence based rationales for decisions
- communicate assessment outcomes to patients in a clear sensitive and supportive manner
- produce high quality clinical reports within agreed timeframes that meet professional and regulatory standards
- contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions and decision making where required
- refer or signpost patients to appropriate services including post diagnostic support and treatment pathways.
- maintain accurate timely and confidential clinical records in line with data protection requirements
- work in line with CQC standards clinical governance frameworks and organisational policies
- participate in clinical supervision reflective practice and ongoing professional development
- contribute to service development audit and quality improvement activities
- manage own caseload effectively ensuring safe and timely delivery of care

ASD/ADHD Assessment & Formulation
- Conduct comprehensive ASD/ ADHD assessments across the lifespan
- Take detailed developmental, educational, occupational, and psychosocial histories
- Use validated tools including:
- Conners (parent/teacher/self)
- SNAP-IV
- DIVA-5 (adults)
- ADOS
- Analyse multi-informant data and clinical observations
- Formulate clear diagnostic conclusions using DSM-5 / ICD-11
- Consider and document differential diagnoses including:
- Autism Spectrum Condition
- Anxiety and mood disorders
- Trauma
- Learning difficulties
- Attachment and emotional regulation difficulties
- Present cases at ASD/ADHD diagnostic MDT meetings
- Contribute to consultant-led diagnostic decisions
- Escalate complex presentations appropriately
- Support quality assurance and audit processes
- Attend team meetings where needed
- Produce high-quality diagnostic reports suitable for:
- Clients and families
- GPs
- Schools / colleges
- Local authorities
- Deliver feedback sessions to parents/carers and adults
- Produce child-friendly summary letters where required
- Ensure reports meet NHS and Right to Choose standards
- Collect feedback through Doctify or similar
- Identify safeguarding concerns and follow local safeguarding procedures
- Complete risk assessments where indicated
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical records
- Work within consent, Gillick competence, and Mental Capacity Act frameworks

- Doctorate or equivalent qualification in:
- Clinical Psychology

- Formal training and experience in ASD/ ADHD assessment minimum of 1 year experience.
- Strong knowledge of:
- NICE NG87
- DSM-5 / ICD-11
- Experience assessing children and/or adults
- Excellent formulation and report-writing skills
- Minimum of 1 year experience of diagnostic and report writing in a health setting.
- Experience with Right to Choose ADHD pathways
