SEND Inclusion Support is looking for a SEND Support Practitioner to work alongside one of our experienced Nurture Teachers, providing 2:1 support to a young person in St Helens .
This is a community-based role for someone who enjoys building genuine relationships with young people and understands that progress doesn't always happen in a traditional classroom.
You'll work as part of a small, supportive team, helping the young person engage in learning, develop confidence and access appropriate activities within the community.
What you'll be doingWorking alongside a Nurture Teacher as part of a 2:1 support team
Supporting a young person with SEND in community-based sessions
Helping the young person engage with learning and activities
Building a positive, consistent and trusting relationship
Supporting emotional regulation, confidence and independence
Encouraging communication, social skills and positive engagement
Helping create a safe and positive environment
Following the Nurture Teacher's planned activities and guidance
Supporting the young person to access different community environments and experiences
Sharing observations and relevant updates with the wider team
You don't need to be a qualified teacher, but you should have experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH .
You'll be someone who is:
Calm, patient and consistent
Warm and approachable
Confident supporting young people in community settings
Able to build professional relationships
Reliable and committed
Comfortable working as part of a 2:1 team
Able to respond appropriately to individual needs and behaviours
Passionate about helping young people make progress
Experience of autism, SEMH, EBSA, anxiety or other additional needs would be valuable.

Our Nurture Teachers work from our bespoke Nurture Curriculum , designed for young people who may struggle to access mainstream education, with learning adapted around their individual needs.
You'll also be part of our wider specialist SEND team, with ongoing support and communication throughout your placement.
