We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to be part of Bury's Specialist Mental Health Team which is part of the wider Neighbourhood Mental Health Service. The Specialist Mental Health Team delivers interventions and support to individuals of working age who require intensive longer term input due to a severe/ enduring mental health conditions. The team comprises of professionals from a variety of disciplines Following the transformation of services health and social care tasks have been allocated to relevant professionals within their employing organisation, Pennine Care Foundation Trust and Bury council. There is an expectation that joint working will continue with council colleagues for an holistic approach to care. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the leadership team and this appointment will be pivotal in delivering and supporting this new way of working. - To provide strong leadership and vision to the team maintaining robust quality assurance to enable a safe high quality service to be delivered.
- To direct staff and provide expert advice and guidance on the management of service users care.
- To ensure that work allocated to staff is commensurate with their skill set and level of training.
- To manage and maintain systems for planning and allocation of work and for the setting and reviewing of targets, standards and priorities to the team.
- To ensure professional supervision systems are in place.
- To participate in the recruitment and appointment of staff within agreed HR procedures.
- To hold regular team meetings and develop the team.
- To respond to enquiries and complaints within the framework of the complaints procedure.
- To effectively manage the referrals to the team ensuring capacity is maintained and urgent cases are responded to in a timely manner.
- To demonstrate the ability to make sound managerial and clinical decisions in relation to mental health and acute physical illness for this client group.
- To chair MDT meetings, reviews, case conferences, planning meetings as required.
- To advise and make recommendations to the wider MDT with regard to the clinical management of service users.

- To maintain accurate and clinical records on all service user contacts are maintained using approved systems and processes, including local authority systems.
- To provide information and resources to non-mental health professionals in relation to the safe and effective management of service users with mental health / psychological problems.
Essential
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current registration with Professional body.
- Substantial experience as a senior mental health practitioner at Band 6 or equivalent level in a CMHT or similar service with clients with severe/ enduring mental health issues. This should include
- Experience of working with multi-agency child and adult safeguarding procedures.
- Experience of working to objectives, within a performance management framework.
- Experience of providing day-to-day clinical leadership and operational management. Providing clinical and management supervision.
- Experience of joint working with outside agencies.
- Experience of commissioning care and local authority procedures, eligibility criteria, personalisation etc.
- Knowledge of Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act
- Knowledge of The community mental health framework for adults and older adults
- Knowledge of key guidance, screening and assessment processes related to CMHT client group
- Knowledge of NICE guidance and best practice guidelines with regards to this client group.
- Knowledge of risk management issues
- Ability to function and make decisions in a fast paced, dynamic environment Ability to represent mental health services and build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
- Evidence of well-developed comprehensive mental health assessment skills.
- Evidence of well-developed team leadership and management skills Evidence of the ability to lead, motivate and manage a group of skilled staff Ability to manage
- own emotions and deal with others in highly charged situations
- Ability to manage the performance of staff in a consistent and sensitive manner
- Ability to produce written reports that are clear, unambiguous and produced with agreed timescales.
- Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
- Willing to carry out all duties and responsibilities of the post in accordance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities and Equality and Diversity policies
- Appointments to regulated and controlled activities require an enhanced DBS disclosure.
- Educated to degree level or working towards
- Formal teaching qualification
- Completion of Preparation for Mentorship / Practice Teacher / Fieldwork Educator qualification or willingness to complete
- Experience of managing budgets.
- Experience of working to objectives, within a performance management framework.
- Experience in chairing professionals meetings
- Experience of managing / triaging referrals
