Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Medicines Management Pharmacist to join the established Pharmacy Team. The role will be supporting our healthcare and operational colleagues to deliver the safe and effective use of medicines. The successful candidate will be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have experience of substance misuse services. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and skilled Pharmacist, to contribute fully to the delivery and development of our medicines management programme. The role will include undertaking medicines management duties at Park House Inpatient Treatment Service, reviewing incidents, policy and procedure development, formulary maintenance, undertaking audits, delivering learning & development training tools, providing medical information and carrying out financial data analysis. This role requires two days on site at Park House Inpatient Treatment Service (Birmingham) and three days working remotely from home. Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide comprehensive medicines management support to ensure safe and effective use of medicines at Park House and across the organisation and will work with clinical and operational colleagues to promote best practice in relation to medication use. As a Medicines Management Pharmacist, you will support services by:
- Providing medical information to both internal and external healthcare professionals
- Assisting with pharmacovigilance related queries
- Supporting with National Clinical Audit Programme and other governance processes undertaken organisationally
- Supporting colleagues with adherence to Formulary and cost effective prescribing
- Maintaining an up-to-date formulary in line with current guidance
- Horizon scanning and evaluating new drugs entering the market
- Developing, reviewing and updating PGDs for effective service delivery
- Developing and reviewing community pharmacy Service Level Agreements
- Creating, reviewing and updating organisational policies, procedures and guidance documents to ensure good medicines management governance
- Undertaking Medicines Management Visits and providing written feedback to ensure compliance to regulatory standards and organisational policies / procedures
- Reviewing and analysing medication related incidents; providing support with incident management and sharing learning from incidents to improve practice within clinical services
- Introducing and implementing digital innovation
- Providing financial analysis through utilisation of prescribing data
- Working with external stakeholders to promote service user needs
- Promoting a learning and development culture throughout the organisation to maintain the highest standards of care
- Providing training to staff via a range of teaching methods including online presentations and webinars to ensure competency in key medicines and prescription related areas
Experience
Essential
- More than 3 years experience as a registered pharmacist within the UK
- Able to demonstrate a wider understanding of pharmacy practice and the workings of the NHS, including prescribing and medicines management
- Able to communicate with a wide range of staff from a range of disciplines from within CGL, the NHS and other organisations
- Experience of developing clinical protocols and PGDs

- Current registration with GPhC
- Commitment and evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)
- Current registration with RPS
- Independent Prescriber Qualification
- Post-graduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice or Clinical Pharmacy
