Nursery Teacher - Barnet
A well-resourced primary school in Barnet is seeking a caring and organised Nursery Teacher to start January 2026. The Nursery Teacher will lead the daily provision for the nursery cohort, planning play-based activities, managing routines and working closely with parents and the early years team. This Nursery Teacher post is ideal for someone who enjoys creating stimulating indoor and outdoor learning areas and developing strong family partnerships in Barnet.
• Nursery Teacher required for a full-time or part-time position
• Nursery Teacher required to work within a busy early years provision in Barnet
• Nursery Teacher to lead high-quality nursery practice and support transition into Reception
The appointed Nursery Teacher will maintain accurate observations, design targeted group activities to promote communication and physical development, and coordinate transition work with Reception staff. Professional development opportunities are provided, with induction beginning ahead of January 2026 to ensure the Nursery Teacher is prepared for the spring term starting January 2026.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver child-centred nursery sessions that promote language, physical and social development.
- Record observations and use assessment evidence to plan purposeful next steps.
- Work closely with families to support children’s routines and transitions.
- Maintain a safe, stimulating indoor/outdoor environment and lead daily routines.
- Contribute to nursery improvement planning and staff training activities.
Person specification
- Relevant early years qualifications and experience leading nursery provision.
- Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding and effective observation practice.
- Warm, reflective practitioner who builds positive relationships with children and families.
- Able to start January 2026 and based in Barnet.
- Committed to collaborative working and continuous improvement within the school's early years team.
