About the Role

Connex Education is working with a number of primary schools across Derby City Centre and the wider DE1 area who are looking to recruit Supply Teaching Assistants to support on a flexible basis.

As schools move into the final half term of the academic year, demand for reliable Teaching Assistants remains steady, with opportunities available immediately and schools already beginning to secure support staff for September 2026.

You will be supporting across EYFS, KS1, and KS2, helping pupils remain engaged, build confidence, and access learning within a positive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
• Assisting the class teacher with lesson activities and classroom routines
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement within lessons
• Helping pupils stay focused and involved throughout the school day
• Supporting pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs where required

This role is well suited to those seeking flexible local work, whether you already have school-based experience, are looking to gain further classroom exposure, or are interested in securing opportunities for September.

Person Specification

• Recent UK-based experience working with children (school-based experience preferred)
• Comfortable supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups
• Strong communication skills and a patient, professional approach
• Reliable and able to adapt to different school environments
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
