Start date: January 2027
⏳ Apply by: October 30 2026
Chelsea Hall School is a unique specialist school for primary-aged students with mild to moderate, and sometimes multiple, learning needs. A primary diagnosis of autism, ADHD, or global developmental delay are just some of the complex profiles you would be working with in a role with us.
We are seeking to recruit an energetic primary school SEN teacher to join our dedicated team. You will be passionate about supporting children with SEN and committed to providing them with the best educational support possible. You will be working in close partnership with our teachers, therapists, other teaching assistants and parents.
The ideal applicant will have experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. You will have a calm, patient approach with the ability to engage well with pupils. Experience of positive behaviour management and behaviour de-escalation is crucial to this position.
In return, we can offer:
Salary of £37,000-£51,000 (Depending on experience)
Company pension scheme
Professional development and additional training
The opportunity to work in a welcoming school environment with wonderful students
A strong and supportive leadership team, passionate about staff and student wellbeing
An ‘employee assistance programme’ membership entitling you to home life support, work life assistance, physical and emotional health support, and wellbeing support resources (including free therapy!)
Lunch provided daily in term time
Essential qualifications and experience:
QTS
Valid DBS
Demonstrated knowledge of the needs of children with SEN/SpLD, and experience in this environment
Commitment to safeguarding children
Knowledge of relevant risk management, health & safety, and child protection practices
Unfortunately, we are not currently able to provide sponsorship for this role, so you will need authorisation to work in the UK.
Key responsibilities for this role:
Planning and delivering engaging lessons to a small class of up to 6 pupils, in accordance with the school’s curriculum framework and related policies
Monitoring, recording and reporting on pupils' progress
Maintaining pupils’ Individual Educational Plans and update them on a half-termly basis
Promoting the physical, educational and moral development of the students
Contributing to the development and implementation of an environment and programme of learning for each individual pupil that ensures progression
Briefing and supporting class TAs
Working with and managing challenging behaviour in a way that reduces its occurrence and enables pupils to develop effective and appropriate strategies.
Playing a full part as a member of the school’s multi-professional team, ensuring effective working relationships with colleagues
Maintaining regular communication with parents, colleagues and external agencies
Safeguarding all students and ensure their safety and wellbeing
Participating in training and take responsibility for personal development
Chelsea Hall School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and at least two satisfactory references.
Please note that questions on safeguarding will also be asked during the interview so as to check on your awareness of safeguarding procedure and anticipate potential training needs. All staff members receive child protection and PREVENT training upon employment, unless they have recently undergone such training.
