About the Opportunity

Due to continued expansion, our client is seeking two experienced Underwriters to join their growing Construction & Liability division. We are open to hiring one Senior + one Junior , or two Mid‑Level Underwriters , depending on experience.

This is a high‑impact opportunity for ambitious underwriting professionals looking to advance their career in Construction Underwriting and Liability Underwriting . You will underwrite a high volume of wages and turnover construction business , typically around £3,000 GWP, with authority to write risks up to £100,000 .

Key Responsibilities

• Construction & Liability Underwriting — Underwrite wages and turnover business on a presentation basis.

• Risk Assessment & Pricing — Identify hazards, exposures and coverage considerations impacting acceptance, pricing and terms.

• Policy Wording Expertise — Interpret policy and endorsement wordings; draft or modify bespoke wordings where required.

• Premium Calculation — Determine policy terms and calculate premiums within authority limits and binding authority agreements.

• Loss Ratio Control — Apply strong underwriting discipline to support portfolio profitability.

• Broker Relationship Management — Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and key trading partners.

• Sales & Growth Support — Support sales campaigns and contribute to the acquisition of profitable new business.

• Market Awareness — Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of construction insurance trends, liability exposures and market developments.

• Internal Collaboration — Work closely with internal teams, maintaining open communication and model behaviours.

• Compliance & Governance — Operate within underwriting authorities, guidelines and regulatory requirements.

• Business Contribution — Support wider business initiatives and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

• Construction / Liability underwriting experience — Minimum 3 years for mid‑level and senior roles.

• Strong understanding of construction risk factors, liability exposures and commercial underwriting principles.

• Experience underwriting wages & turnover construction business .

• Ability to interpret and draft policy wordings and endorsements.

• Experience monitoring underwriting performance and insurer loss ratios.

• Strong communication, negotiation and relationship‑building skills.

• Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and work autonomously once trained.

• Experience with hard‑to‑place construction risks (desirable).

• Existing broker relationships (desirable but not essential).
