Youth Worker (Community Education) - Beeslack Community High School

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Youth Worker to join our team and make a positive difference to the lives of young people. The successful candidate will have experience of supporting young people and a proven track record in creating, developing and evaluating youth work interventions that support attainment, wider achievement and positive outcomes.

Working closely with pupils, families, school staff and partner organisations, the postholder will build strong relationships and develop meaningful opportunities for young people to engage with their local community. The role will provide a valuable link between the school, local community organisations, services and their users, creating opportunities for learning, participation and intergenerational engagement beyond the traditional school environment.

KNOWLEDGE

Essential qualifications:

Fully trained jobholders must hold a minimum SVQ3 level qualification in Youth Work, or equivalent subject, and have experience supporting children and young people in an educational setting.

Youth Worker (B) Experienced jobholders who have not yet attained the SVQ3 level qualification in Youth Work or equivalent but are currently studying towards it will be paid at SCP 35.

Full clean UK driving licence.

Based on 20 hours over 39 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £15,596.11 per annum. 

Responsibilities

This post is considered Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with Protected Adults and/or Children.

Successful candidates will require PVG Scheme membership for Regulated Work with Protected Adults and Children, You will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment with Midlothian Council, the cost of which will be met by you.
