Attendance Officer
A successful Secondary School in Bedford is seeking a dedicated and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team on a full-time, permanent basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving student attendance and ensuring every young person has the opportunity to succeed. The successful candidate will work closely with pastoral leaders, the safeguarding team, parents and external agencies to promote excellent attendance and punctuality throughout the school.
You will monitor daily attendance, complete first-day absence procedures, maintain accurate attendance records and identify attendance concerns at an early stage. Working alongside Heads of Year, you will support targeted interventions for students whose attendance requires improvement, building positive relationships with families to help remove barriers to education.
The role includes producing attendance reports for senior leaders and governors, maintaining records using Arbor, Bromcom or SIMS, coordinating attendance meetings and ensuring all statutory attendance procedures are completed accurately and on time. You will also support safeguarding processes by ensuring attendance concerns are escalated appropriately.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities and a proactive, professional approach. You will be confident managing sensitive situations while maintaining positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues.

Requirements
Previous attendance, pastoral or school administration experience desirable
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organisational abilities
Experience analysing attendance data
Good IT skills and experience using Arbor, SIMS or Bromcom desirable
Professional and confidential approach
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting excellent attendance
