About the Role

This is a salaried teacher training position rather than a traditional university-led route. From September, you will become a valued member of our Maths department, gradually progressing from observation and supported teaching to leading your own lessons.

Throughout the year, you will receive expert guidance from experienced teachers and mentors while completing your formal teacher training qualification.

By the end of the programme, you will have achieved both your PGCE and QTS, enabling you to begin your career as a fully qualified Maths Teacher.

Person Specification

We welcome applications from graduates and career changers who can demonstrate strong mathematical knowledge and a genuine commitment to education.

Applicants must have:

* A degree in Mathematics or a related numerate subject (2:1 preferred)
* Strong A-Level Mathematics knowledge.
* A passion for inspiring young people and supporting their academic progress
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational skills and a professional approach to learning and development.
* The resilience, enthusiasm, and commitment required to succeed in a teacher training programme.
* Right to work in the UK
* A full UK driving licence is beneficial but not essential.
* The school is easily accessible via Manchester's extensive public transport network.

Your Training Journey

September - December

Develop your classroom confidence through lesson observations, supported teaching, and guided practice. You will build your understanding of effective teaching, behaviour management, and student assessment.

January - March

Take increasing responsibility for lesson planning and delivery, supported by regular feedback and coaching. You will continue developing your teaching style and subject pedagogy.

April - July

Lead classes independently while refining your practice and completing the final requirements for your PGCE and QTS. You will finish the year ready to transition into a qualified teaching role.
