Finance Officer
Full-time
The North East MSA is working to unlock the full potential of our region through investment in transport, skills, housing, economic growth and inclusive communities. We are looking for a Finance Officer to join our Finance Team and support the delivery of high-quality financial management across the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their finance career while contributing to services and projects that make a real difference to the people and places of the North East. About the role
As a Finance Officer, you will provide finance and accounting support across a range of government services, helping to ensure budgets are effectively managed and financial information is accurate, timely and reliable. You will support budget monitoring, financial reporting, reconciliations, grant-funded activity, financial planning and year-end processes, while providing advice and guidance to budget holders and colleagues across the organisation. Working as part of a collaborative Finance Team, you will contribute to strong financial governance and help services make informed financial decisions that support delivery of the Authority’s priorities. About you
We are looking for someone who is organised, motivated and enjoys working with financial information. You will be confident building positive working relationships, solving problems and managing competing priorities. • Working towards a relevant finance qualification, such as AAT, accountancy body, or with extensive experience in transactional finance.
• Experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to communicate effectively and provide support to colleagues and budget holders.
• High levels of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail. What’s in it for you?
At the North East MSA, you’ll be part of an ambitious organisation shaping the future of our region. We offer flexible and hybrid working, opportunities for professional development and the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the North East’s success. By joining our Finance Team, you’ll gain exposure to a broad range of financial activities, including budget management, financial reporting, grant-funded programmes and strategic financial planning, while building valuable experience in a supportive and collaborative environment. We are proud to be an inclusive employer, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, communities and experiences. We support flexible working and encourage applications from candidates who are under-represented including women, disabled people, LGBTQ+ people and those from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds. If you are organised, analytical and passionate about delivering high-quality financial services that make a difference, we would love to hear from you.
