Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) at Leading Secondary School in Merton
Our client, a highly regarded secondary school located in the London Borough of Merton, is seeking a skilled and experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join their dedicated team. This is a full-time, permanent position commencing in September.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the school's Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision. This encompasses strategic leadership, the development and evaluation of effective SEN policies and practices, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the identification, assessment, and support of students with SEN
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students with SEN
- Lead and manage the SEN team
- Maintain accurate records and data relating to SEN provision
- Contribute to the wider school community through training and awareness-raising initiatives
Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or equivalent qualification
- Proven experience in a SENCo role or similar leadership position within SEN provision
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the SEN Code of Practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership and management capabilities
