This role is ideal for a commercially astute, resilient and visionary leader who thrives on building services from the ground up. You will lead the commissioning phase end-to-end, shaping the culture, recruiting and developing the team, embedding quality and governance frameworks, and driving occupancy as the home opens and grows.
The provider has a strong reputation for high-quality, person-centred care and is committed to investing in both people and infrastructure. You will be supported by an experienced senior leadership team while being given genuine autonomy to make the service your own.
This is a standout opportunity for someone who wants to leave a legacy, not just manage an existing service.
About the Commissioning Home Manager role and what's on offer:
- Permanent, full-time contract - 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, with flexibility during commissioning phase)
- Circa £60,000 basic salary, negotiable depending on experience
- £30,000+ performance-related bonus , linked to successful commissioning milestones, occupancy growth and quality outcomes
- £90,000+ earning potential
- 30 days annual leave
- Opportunity to lead a brand-new, purpose-built nursing home from pre-opening through to full occupancy
- Full autonomy to recruit, develop, and shape a high-performing, values-led team
- Strong senior management support throughout the commissioning and stabilisation phases
- Comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development
- Genuine long-term career progression opportunities within a growing organisation
What we're looking for in a Commissioning Home Manager:
- NMC Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN/RNLD) with proven experience commissioning nursing homes, or extensive experience commissioning nursing homes for candidates without a nursing qualification
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Home Manager, or an experienced Nursing Home Manager with significant commissioning, pre-opening or turnaround experience
- Hold a recognised care management qualification, such as SVQ/NVQ Level 5, RMA or Diploma Level 5
- Strong understanding of commissioning processes, registration and inspections, particularly with the Care Inspectorate
- Demonstrable experience recruiting and building teams from scratch and embedding strong culture, governance and quality frameworks
- Commercially astute, with a proven track record of managing budgets, driving occupancy and delivering sustainable growth
- Confident and visible leader with excellent stakeholder management skills, including working with regulators, local authorities, professionals and families
- Highly organised, resilient and comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- A genuine passion for delivering high standards of care and creating an exceptional service
- Full eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship or visa switch available).
- Willingness to undertake a PVG check.
Why this opportunity?
This is a rare opportunity to commission and lead a brand-new nursing home, giving you the autonomy to shape everything from the team and culture through to operational standards, quality, governance and occupancy.
With a circa £60,000 basic salary, negotiable depending on experience, and the opportunity to earn £30,000+ in performance-related bonus, this role offers an excellent package for an experienced leader who can successfully deliver a new service.
