Part-time Practice Nurse - Jacksdale Medical Centre

Jacksdale Medical Centre is seeking an experienced and highly competent Practice Nurse to join our team for 16-20 hours per week every Thursday and Friday.This role requires a confident, proactive clinician with strong primary care experience, able to independently manage clinical care, vaccination programmes, and essential practice governance tasks while working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Located in the heart of Jacksdale village, we serve a list size of approximately 4,700 patients. Our close-knit team includes 2 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 2 Practice Nurses, 1 GPA, 5 Care Navigators and 2 Medical Secretaries. We are further supported by a comprehensive range of PCN ARRS roles, including an ARRS GP, a Home Visiting ANP, a Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, FCP, GPA, Mental Health Nurse, Diabetic Specialist Nurse, Housebound Care Coordinator and a Midwife.
Main duties
- Wound care and dressing changes
- Routine adult and childhood immunisations
- Travel vaccinations and travel health forms
- Long-term condition reviews, including asthma, COPD, diabetes and hypertension
- Injections and other treatment room procedures
- Sample handling and processing
- Filing and processing pathology results in line with practice protocols
- Reviewing, scanning and actioning home blood pressure monitoring readings
- Working safely under Patient Group Directions, local protocols and national guidance
- Infection prevention and control audits
- Vaccine stock management and stock rotation
- Cold chain maintenance, including fridge temperature checks, data logger monitoring
- Receipt, organisation and safe storage of clinical deliveries
- Emergency drugs and equipment checks
- Legionella checks, in line with practice procedures
- Accurate clinical documentation, coding and follow-up on SystmOne
- General practice nursing duties as required and appropriate to competence
Essential requirements:
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
- General practice or primary care nursing experience
- Strong understanding of infection prevention governance
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
- Competence in cervical screening/sample taking
- Spirometry and/or FeNO competence
- Ear irrigation/syringing competence
- Experience using SystmOne
- Experience with QOF, recalls and Ardens long-term condition management templates
