Registered Adult Nurse Flu Vaccinator

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for three temporary fixed-term contracts of three months to support the delivery of the staff flu vaccination programme at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The post holders will work as members of the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team, supporting the delivery of the Trust's seasonal Flu Vaccination Programme across all NUH sites. The successful candidates will play a key role in promoting vaccination and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of flu vaccinations to Trust staff.

The main vaccination clinics will be based at both the Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) and City Hospital campuses, with occasional satellite and pop-up clinics held at Ropewalk House and other NUH-managed sites.

Clinics will primarily operate Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend half-day sessions. Core operating hours are currently planned between 07:30 and 18:00, although there may be occasional later clinics (up to 22:00)

Previous experience in immunisation and vaccination is essential. Applicants must be registered on the appropriate part of the NMC Register as a Registered Adult Nurse and demonstrate the skills and professional competence required to deliver vaccination services safely and effectively.

Main duties of the job

• Administer flu vaccinations under PGDs and local written instructions.
• Carry out pre-vaccination screening assessments.
• Manage vaccine stock receipt, storage, and inventory control.
• Maintain cold chain compliance, including daily fridge temperature monitoring.
• Accurately record vaccinations and patient information on VaccTrack.
• Ensure compliance with infection control, clinical governance, and patient safety standards.

The Occupational Health Team are part of the Corporate HR department and is comprised of a multi disciplinary team. We are a SEQOHS accredited service comprising a team of Occupational Health Doctors (Consultants & Registrar's), specialist nurses, nurse advisors, occupational health technicians & counsellors all supported by a team of medical administrator's. In addition to the services we provide to Nottingham University Hospitals NHS trust we also provide Occupational health services to a number of other NHS trusts and to a number private companies in the region.

Essential

Experience

• Must be able to demonstrate depth of nursing experience with a minimum 1 year experience working as Registered Adult Nurse in an acute care setting/Practice Nurse/Community Nurse/Vaccinator Role
• Confident and competent in undertaking nurse led clinics with a flexible approach to working
• Experience of administering vaccinations

Desirable

• Experience of working to PGD/Written Instructions
• Experience in fast passed clinics with a high level of footfall
• Knowledge of or experience with the "Vacctrack" system
• Knowledge of or experience with the "RAVS" system

Physical Skills
Essential

• Manual handling: The role may require physical handling of equipment, including portable health testing devices, medical supplies, and assisting patients during procedures. There is a frequent requirement for sitting at a desk / keyboard for a proportion of working time
• Clinical skills: Precision and dexterity in using medical instruments and technology
• Administration: Ability to operate medical and office equipment, including computers, photocopiers, and printers for record keeping and report generation. Ability to use computerised OH systems and Microsoft Office
• Data entry: Accurate typing skills for inputting patient data, health assessments, and results into NHS systems
• First Aid: The capability to administer first aid and assist with basic emergency procedures when required
